Kia ora koutou katoa . . . Warm greetings one and all 🙂
Overall, the mission of FutureMakers is to:
- Stimulate and promote creative entrepreneurship across CAI
- Resource CAI students, recent grads and staff as creative future-makers employing imagination and talent for personal, community and global wellbeing.
In July we launched FutureMakers online for those contemplating self-employment and start-up business development once they leave university. The FutureMakers team produced much of the hub’s evergreen resources, including video profiles, how-to tool kits and practical exercises.
In Semester Two, we tested our content in a series of pilot FutureMakers workshops including wellbeing & resilience; understanding money & debt; and ‘the art of freelancing’. In our evaluation survey, we asked participants, “How likely are you to recommend FutureMakers to a friend or fellow student/graduate?” We are delighted that 50% of respondents gave a 10/10 rating.
Asked why they gave that score, one respondent said,
“The workshop was exactly what I needed in my final year at Uni as it is a time where I was starting to apply for jobs, thinking about my future etc. The workshop helped me to understand the steps to put in place for this and also just to take time to reset, think about what my goals are.”
FutureMakers resources can easily be added to CAI courses and programmes covering creative career development. To help you find resources, we’ve produced a FutureMakers Guide for Staff and we will continue to update this guide in 2020. Please add to your bookmarks 🙂
As the year draws to a close, warm thanks to all who contributed to the FutureMakers pilot this year. Your invaluable support has enabled us to produce an asset that we can all be proud of.
Have a relaxing, safe festive season. Ngā manaakitanga . . .
